Dale Ratcliff

Dale Ratcliff is a well-known, award-winning, plein-air landscape painter from Gloucester, MA. Her fresh and colorful paintings which reflect the free yet representational style of the Rockport School are characterized by lively brushwork and strong design. She especially enjoys the challenge of plein-air work, trying to catch the fleeting effects of light, shadow, form, and texture. Dale is a graduate of the University of Maine and returns to Maine frequently on painting trips. She belongs to several art organizations including the Rockport Art Association and the Hudson River Art Association, she is a teacher of outdoor classes and workshops, and also demonstrates and judges for art groups. She served on the Board of Directors of North Shore Arts Association, and she is represented by galleries in New England, Indiana, and California. Her artwork is found in public and private collections worldwide.

Dale is known for her rocky seascapes, winter snowscapes as well as pastoral farm scenes. The power of the water in her seascapes is almost audible, the movement realistic and the eternal conflict between land and sea is palatable.

Dale had a solo exhibit at our Gallery in 2003, and you may see the images 'here'.
And she and her husband Charles Movalli had a show together in 2013, and the images are 'here'.
