A graduate of the Vesper George School of Art in Boston , Hingham native Kathy (Donnelly) Ferrara spent much of her career as a commercial artist, illustrating fashion and home goods for many retail establishments until the mid 90's. At that time, she moved into the world of Fine Art and began to explore the challenge of watercolor, which, by its very nature, forced her to stretch and grow as an artist.
She has won numerous awards and has been represented by galleries in Hingham , Hyannis and Nantucket . Her style is rich in color and depth, with impeccable attention to detail. Skills developed in the commercial field have enabled her to draw with precision, yet paint with a soft elegance, drawing you into her paintings, visually wetting the appetite. One can almost feel the texture of lace, taste the sweetness of a strawberry, and savor a comforting cup of tea. Her landscapes and florals are vibrant, maintaining the softness that permeates her work. She strives to awaken the senses with her paintings, which, in her opinion, is the very essence and purpose of art.
Kathy is a member of the Duxbury Art Association and The Plymouth Guild of Artists. She resides in Hanson with her husband Jim and their cat Annabelle.
Kathy and Nancy Gaucher-Thomas had an exhibit at our Gallery on October 17, 2008. You can see the images 'here'.
