After serving in the South Pacific in New Guinea during WWII as a Bombardier/Navigator, W. West Frazier returned home to suburban Philadelphia, and enrolled at The Hussian School of Art with an eye to becoming a graphic artist. Sketching cigarette ads was not his cup of tea, so with the promise of a few commissions from friends and neighbors, he entered the art world, and painted professionally from the early fifties through the early 2000’s. His subject were horses, dogs, hounds and outdoor lives of the people living in the countryside outside Philadelphia, and on the island of Mount Desert, ME where the family summered.
In 1978 he and his wife Lois moved to Mount Desert year round, and he continued to paint, and the commissions continued to roll in as his reputation continued to grow. He had very few shows, usually locally, yet word of mouth kept him busy and his clients happy.
